I have a little boy who likes to play soccer.
And chat up the girls and goof around and chase birds and daydream….
In the middle of this evening’s soccer game he was not paying attention to the action on the field and instead he kept pointing at something beyond the bleachers - possibly a bird or a butterfly or a cool car driving by.
I gave him that stern “mother” look and very clearly mouthed “F O C U S !”
At the end of the game he came running over, “Mom, did you see it? In the clouds?”
With limited interest, while also finding the car keys and checking my phone messages, I asked “What, was it shaped like a dinosaur or a gorilla?”
My little boy answered “No, look, HEAVEN.”
Perhaps his focus is exactly where it should be.

Papa C and Grandma Kate like the way Harry observes his surroundings. You look great doing your soccer moves too.

Thank you Deb – it is so easy to get caught up in the busy-ness of life with young kids, that we forget to listen to them and learn from them. I’m writing as much down as I can so that I have these sweet moments to always remember.
